Athlon 64 CPU

Strengths: Comes with it's own fan. Dual core processor. Extremely fast. Latest technology.

Weakness: None Yet

I am so happy that I chose this CPU - it is awesome! The fact that it is 64 bit means it is the latest technology. Can't wait for more applications that will actually take advantage of this.

I wish I hadn't waited so long

Strengths: - fast - cool temperature - easy to install

Weakness: - not as fast as the CPUs that cost a lot more

This was the best upgrade! I am amazed at how much having dual core speeds things up on WindowsXP. Now, I can record & watch TV, web browse, etc., all at the same time with no slow down. Converting video with DIVX is fantastic! Even so, CPU temps are always about 20 degrees C. lower than my Athlon XP was. I wish I hadn't waited so long.

IMPRESSESIVE Processor

Strengths: Fast rendering, Awesome w/games, Cool

Weakness: None yet

I was a INTEL boy, everything was INTEL, AMD sux! But after researching on the web, a lot of people said AMD is good. So I gave it a chance to try the Dual Core X2's. I love this AMD processor. It runs fast and cool. I got a aftermarket fan and tweak to a 2.4. and still idle at 34c full at 41c. I have never seen it reach 45c. My old P4 3.2 prescott was so hot (idle 54c full load at 65c and up) it...

AMD 64 X2 4200+

Strengths: Speed, Overclocks, 64-bit support, low temp.

Weakness: Not many devices are supported under 64-bit mode

This is by far the best processor that I have ever bought. On my old computer with Pentium 4 processor 3.0GHz it took two and a half hours to burn a DVD because it couldn't process that much DVD video at a time. With this new processor but same DVD burner, it took a half hour. Like AMD says, "Do more in less time".

Extreme Speed

Strengths: Cheaper and faster than the bigger cached X2 4400+

Weakness: None

Start a video in a browser, grab the video and shake it, drag it across the screen, no slow down or interruption because of dual core processing. This is a better value than the X2 4400+ because it uses Manchester fab instead of Toledo, uses less power, generates less heat and is faster in most instances, plus cheaper than the 4400... The smaller cache makes no difference.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200

Strengths: AMD quality. Quiet fan that cools very well. Dual core speed. Great Value.

Weakness: 512K L2 cache.

This processor is a great value offering extreme performance at a high-end sinle core price. It comes with thermal compound already applied, had good documentation, and the stock fan is quiet and effective.

Athlon Processor review

Strengths: Dual core processor! Extremely fast! 64 bit!

Weakness: None!

Awesome processor! Since it is a dual core processor, you can easily edit and encode video with speed! Also, open a ton of applications with no lag! This processor sure beats those Intel ones! Plus, with it being 64 bit, you are all set for the future!

AMD 64 X2

Strengths: Speed 64 Bit

Weakness: No 64 Bit Apps :(

Great Processor, Perfect For Gaming. Idle Temp Is Roughly At 108F, which is pretty close to my P4 3.0 Prescott. Far more superior in cooling. Had no problems at all when installed.

Fast but Expensive

Strengths: Dual core, reasonably low power

Weakness: Lower price/performance than 3800+ version

Years ago I had a two-CPU server that I used as a desktop (with Windows NT) and I've missed the smoothness of that system with multiple apps running ever since. Until now - with this Athlon X2 I enjoy similarly smooth performance in a conventional desktop. Email downloading while I'm surfing the web? After this X2 upgrade I no longer notice any "stuttering" with my PC. Doing a long print job...

AMD Athlon 64 X2

Strengths: Speed, 64 bit, expandability to Vista and 64 Bit Apps

Weakness: None I am aware of.

I have always been an Intel single pro guy, but they have all been laptops. First desktop had to be dual, after research the AMD X2 seemed to be the better of the two (compared to the Intel duo.) With the Asus A8N-SLI Delux mobo and 2GB of Samsung DDR400 RAM... WOW. definately suggest this CPU. I have flatlined it converting 2 .AVI to DVDs but still extremely happy.
