Best Console in 2008

Strengths: Blu Ray, First Party Exclusive Games, Wide File Type Support

Weakness: Costly Controllers/Games

I bought this system at launch (Fall 06). I even paid extra for it. I have never regretted it. The system, up until now, has suffered from lack of exclusive games and a lag in certain multi-platform release dates. That will change in 08. Games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Final Fantasy XIII, God of War III, Gran Turismo 5, Resistance 2, and White Knight Story (as well as the...

Sony PS3 is very good

Strengths: Built in wi-fi, bluetooth, blu-ray disc player, capable of 7.1 surround sound and 1080p resolution. free online play and all for just 600 is a completely revolutionary price for all this.

Weakness: not a lot of good games out at the moment, waiting for gran turismo 5, lair, heavenly sword, metal gear solid 4, final fantasy 13 and much more but most of it will come out in late 2007 and early 08

definitely a must buy system, comes with a free 1 year warranty from sony. very reliable system, doesn't break down as much as 360's do. 7.1 surround sound with 1080p? good god, the awesomous power and strength of this machine. a 8 cell core processor makes this a supercomputer. dvd's and blu-ray movies play great on this.

PlayStation 3 Gaming Console with 60GB HDD

Strengths: Graphics

Weakness: Heat retention, cost

I purchased the PS3 for two reasons, gaming and BluRay DVD capability. I have recently upgraded to HD and felt that I had might as well pay the +/- 600 for the Playstation since it was not significantly different then a BluRay player. I have not been disappointed with the gaming aspect of the PS3. I have not been that impressed with the difference between a normal DVD and BluRay. The 7.1 surround...

Happy Customer

Strengths: Great graphics, easy to use, plays audio and video on many mediums, surround sound and internet.

Weakness: expensive

Too expensive for a game machine. But, if you know it's capabilities and use it to it's full potential, it is well worth the money. I use it for DVDs and CDs. My 13 year-old uses it almost exclusively for games. Hooked up to a projector and surround sound it is incredible

A year away from FIVE STARS

Strengths: - Wireless Built in - Cheap Blu-Ray Option - Sleek Design - Multiple Memory Type reader - Large Hard Drive - Allows Video and Chat with old PS2 peripherals

Weakness: - Very WEAK launch titles - Its BIG / shoots Hot air like a hairdryer - New Controller feels flimsy/no Rumble - Startup need to install a patch - Internal PS and Slot Load worry me - USB on front

OK..... I've played with every bells and whistles and option that this machine has to offer over the last 4 days. Suffice to say....the PS3 is a quality piece of hardware and an affordable Blu-Ray option if you are into the High Def DVD race (I have both so don't care....and haven't noticed a discernible difference bw the 2 formats). This thing is big (bigger than XBOX)....and its heavy..and it...

Best console out there

Strengths: Built in Wi-fi, 60gig HDD(upgradeable), wireless controller, HD gaming, internet access, downloadable items, Blu-ray player, plays PSOne and PSTwo games, upgradeable OS.

Weakness: Launch titles.

I got my Playstation 3 since launch day. I have never been so exited for any other console in the past as I have been with the PS3. Its like having a mini computer in you living room. Operatin System: Its easy to browse. It lets you put pictures, videos, and burn CDs on the HDD. It lets you communicate with you PSP and transfer files via Wi-fi or you can just hook up the PSP through one of the...

PlayStation 3 Console with 60GB Hard Drive

Strengths: Outstanding graphics, great blu-ray disc playback capabilities. Bluetooth interface. Good looking case

Weakness: Where are Socom & Metal Gear?

The console is very well constructed. It feels rugged. The user interface is very intuitive. With the new 1.80 operating system I can stream music and video from my PC. In the future I will be able to use it as a slingbox with my PSP. The graphics on this machine are unbelievable. All we need now are more games. In the mean time it is a great blu-ray dvd player.

PlayStation 3 Gaming Console with 60GB HDD

Strengths: The HD feature is outstanding. The games really come alive much more than PS2.

Weakness: Be prepared to spend at least another $150 for an extra controller and the HD wires.

The PS3 is so much more advanced than the PS2. My son does not want to play any of his old PS2 games any more because the features, picture and even audio on the new games are so much better. It is nice to have the Blu Ray option too. Once more movies come out with this capability we will not need to buy a separate DVD player for the TV with the PS3.

Strengths: great HD graphics, free online features, whisper quiet while running and built in blue ray.

Weakness: very large, and runs really warm, and setup for the thing takes forever

I bought it from a friend unopened and it was christmas come early i have wanted this for a long time and now it is here. I bought call of duty 3 poped in and basked in its glow. I got really got into it. the online gaming is pretty good and I dont think that my decision was bad at all its just so cool to know that you have and own the most powerful gaming console ever created on the market.

Great System

Strengths: Best value blue ray dvd player, built in wifi, true media hub

Weakness: Lack of games that takes full advantage of the system's features, no HD upcoversion, system gets etremely hot, glossy paint finish attracts fingerprints, and lastly, you friends will want to steal it

I've had this system for about a month now so far it's been great. I paired this with a Sony KDS-RXBR2, let me tell you the picture is amazing. One should note that I bought this more as a dvd player for my home theater system. One thing do your self a favor and opt for the Optical cable connection for audio and HDMI ( system doesn't come with one, make sure its version 1.3 compliant- all Monster...

Multifaceted game console doubles as a competitive Blu-ray player with terrific high-def video; but its lack of DVD upscaling dragged down its overall performance.
