Warranty

Strengths: Just purchased the TV and love it.

Weakness: None so far

Circuit City is trying to sell me the Warranty for this TV. They say the bulb may burn out within two years and it could cost up to $500. The warranty for 4 years is $479. Has anyone had problems with their TVs? Do I need the warranty or take my chances and deal with any problems when they arise. HELP!!!

Fabulous TV

Strengths: Great 1080p picture, HDMI connections, very lightweight, attractive case.

Weakness: Nothing so far, I love it!

I purchased this TV after much research and recommendations from several friends that have Samsung DLP TV's. It's definitely the greatest TV for the money. Picture is great all around for regular TV, HD TV, DVD's, and video games! Great sound. Easy setup and menu operation.

Ya gotta love it!

Strengths: It has everything I expected. It would be hard to find another TV with the quality and features for the price.

Weakness: None that I know of.

I do not have the technical expertise to go on about the specific features of this TV. I decided to purchase a wide screen HDTV about 6 weeks ago with little or no knowledge. My first impulse was to buy a Sony, however after seeing the Samsung DLP in action at Circuit City and Best Buy I was sold. I went home and spent the next week reading the reviews by more qualified people and I was convinced...

Great DLP TV

Strengths: Excellent contrast ratio, 1080P native resolution, Dual HDMI inputs

Weakness: Unavailability of PIP

This is my second HDTV. The availability of highest native resolution (1920x1080) makes it compatible with maximum high definition standards available, including Blu-ray discs. Contrast ratio of 10000:1 is one of the highest. I am completely satisfied with its performance so far. PIP not being available is a minor drawback.

HLS5687W

Strengths: 1080p threw component, Outstanding Picture, Xbox friendly, dual HDMI

1080p threw component! Which is important for us Xbox 360 users. This will allow you to use the hd dvd add without a hitch. I'm a gamer and the gaming mode makes the picture allot better. Smooth transitions and just big WOW factor. If your like me and have a zillion remotes buy a Harmony remote, you wont regret it.So Gamers rejoice this TV is awesome for the price.

Pleasantly surprised...

Strengths: Crisp and bright screen. Beautiful design. Strong HD tuner reception (air). D-SUB PC input among many other inputs. Quick source switching, too. Excellent price/satisfaction ratio.

Weakness: No PnP. Audio output delay (both analog and digital). I expected better sound. Dust magnet.

My teenage son says the game mode makes a huge difference, smoothing out digital artifacts that results in fluid motion and realistic gameplay. I have never seen a better on-screen TV function menu. It is very easy to maneuver and to make detailed adjustments. Running a media PC on this TV is a pleasure. The native resolution of 1920 x 1080 will still show small fonts clearly but I find it more...

Awesome TV.. beautiful picture.. could not be happier

Strengths: Sleek design, beautiful picture, great/decent sound quality, a lot of connectivity options

Weakness: Make sure you connect with HD source (SD sources do not look so great), shipping took forever

If you're on the fence between this model and the sony SXRD 1080P model, you were in the same boat as me. I decided to shoot for this model due to the great reviews and price difference (was able to buy the Samsung stand with the savings). Also got a Harmony 880 remote so I didn't need 3+ remotes. The picture is beautiful and I am very happy with the purchase. I cannot comment on the Sony model...

SAMSUNG HLS5687W 56" Samsung DLP HDTV

Strengths: Brightness, color and clarity are extraordinary, even in a room with a lot of daylight.

Weakness: None Observed To Date

Purchased the HDTV and had it up and running in no time. The set is light....took longer to put together the Samsung stand for the TV than to completely rewire all of our components! This is our first HDTV, so there is an automatic WOW factor, but I can tell you many of the shows in HD are so clear that I feel like I'm right there. Not really sure it can get much better than this!

This Is The One - Quality, Functionality, & Style

Strengths: Fantastic HD picture with dual HDMI inputs; brightness & viewability are well above the competition. Speaker quality provides more than adequate sound if you're not connecting to a receiver

Weakness: No PIP or cablecard slot, but these features available on an upgraded model if needed. On-screen TV functions are a little awkward to use, but shouldn't act as a deterrent to all other fine features

Superb DLP-TV with sleek, simplistic lines. Samsung has created a stylistic set with no wasted bulk or add-ons to detract from the picture viewing (which is really why you're buying the set). The TV has more than adequate inputs, including dual HDMI, dual component video, & dual AV. Also included are USB, RS232C, & serial port computer monitor inputs. The quality of a TV show viewed in HD is...

Great TV - No Substituitions

Strengths: This TV is one of the best of its kind on the market. Even with regular cable, this TV is still stunning.

Weakness: USB port allows MP3's and JPG's to be played/displayed on the TV, but MPG's/videos can not be played.

This TV is great. Even the original nintendo, with Super Mario Bros. in full 8 bit quality looks spectacular. When comparing this TV to others on the market, it is definitely worth it to pay a little bit more to get the better quality. The 1080p just blows away previous models.
