Saving grace for AGP holdouts

Strengths: Powerful Quiet Good complement of outputs

Weakness: Price

Well, for us AGP users, the pickings are pretty slim. If you want the most powerful graphics cards now you must migrate to a PCIexpress-based system. But thanks to EVGA, us poor neglected AGP users got a nice bonus. The 7800GS is a solid card, and the fastest available for the AGP bus. Unfortunately, much of that benefit is wasted on me as I don't use it for gaming. Why did I buy it then? Home...

7800GS

Strengths: Fastests AGP card available. Overclocks like no tomorrow.

Weakness: Lack of dual DVI. Pricy compared to the slightly more powerful 7800GT, not to mention the vastly more powerful 7900GT.

If you are still in the AGP boat and haven't got the guts to switch to PCI-express, this is the card for ya. Fastest AGP card in the market and completely blew away the 9800pro it replaced. The evga fan on this thing is awesome, allowing me to overclock to 471Mhz/1.4Ghz (base is 430/1.3), that yielded close to 15% increase in my 3dmark scores. Its entirely possible to push this beast further into...

7800GS - Last high end AGP?

Strengths: Fast, quiet, and runs cool. Best solution to max out the AGP chipset. Excellent performance.

Weakness: Long board. Make sure to have spare molex connector for power. Expensive compared to PCI Express variants.

Top choice for a high end AGP card (look for recertified/refurbished cards to save money since eVGA has a lifetime warranty). Otherwise the price can be on the high side. Runs cool and quiet with an excellent fan and copper heatsink. Stock overclocked, however not outrageous to cause concerns with additional power and heat. Tests have shown that comparable cards on both AGP and PCI-E do not show...

last king in AGP kingdom

Strengths: fast, it is the fastest card in the diminishing AGP kingdom.

Weakness: expensive, considering 7800 PCIE price

This card is the best you can get with AGP interface, even better with EVGA's life time warranty and step-up program. I did have some problem first time installing the card. The monitor turned black screen after windows welcome screen. But the technical support is helpful. Eventually I got the card working.

Solid Card

Strengths: As another poster mentioned, it's "King of the Hill" for the aging AGP slot. Good o/cer. eVGA warranty simply best in the industry!

Weakness: It's on the pricey side because it's really the only game in town. 16 Pipes & 6 Shaders. I was hoping for @ least 20.

Solid card all-in-all. Great stop-gap if you're still on the AGP platform. The way I look @ it for $285.00 plus a $15.00 mail-in rebate, plus a free copy of Age of Empires III it's not that bad. This card will save me from buying a new box for 12-16 months (I hope) Costs? About $0.75 a day. Replaces my aging eVGA 6800NU (Non-Ultra) 128 MB VC, which I love! If you want to stay put with AGP, then...

Wow, great card for AGP.

Strengths: Speed! Price!

Weakness: Heat!

This sucker gave me a few more months on my old motherboard that still has an AGP graphics slot. (Its coupled with a Pentium D 805). In the set-up I have, this card gets pretty hot, so make sure your case has good cooling/case fans...but for an AGP card, WOW! I love it!

AGP Lives

Strengths: AGP card that packs a punch for a nice price.

Weakness: This is a long card so make sure you have room before you buy this.

This is probably my last hurrah for AGP. If, like me, you don't want to spend loads of money to get your PC PCI-E ready just yet, then this card's for you. Card comes with a lifetime warranty, and even allows you to overclock it without voiding your warranty.

Its a good card

Strengths: To tell you the truth I havent been able to find any at the moment,my 3dmark o3,05 and 06 got better...

Weakness: The reflection of my character on the mirror in the game GTA SA looks horible. That did not happen with the card I had before ATI 9800 pro 256mb,cant use ATI tray Tools with this card.

I don't know where to start, I guess Il start with the weaknesses. I got this card and I was expecting better results from it. So far I haven't noticed any significant Improvements over my ATI card. That hurts because I spent a few $Dollars on this card and I feel that I could saved the money for something else instead of a graphics card. I will continue to test it as I just got about two weeks...
