Samsung BDP-1500

Strengths: Sleek and stylish, easy setup, compact size, easy to use remote, upscaling of regular DVD to near HD quality,

Weakness: Have not found any.

If you've been sitting on the fence, it's time to jump in. I've waited (a long time) for the format war to end and finally purchased this Samsung Blu-ray player. I am fortunate to also have purchased a new receiver, the Onkyo TX-SR875, which has internal decoding for Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio, as well as the standard DD and DTS formats. This combination works very well together and I'm more than satisfied with the performance of both, displayed on my new Samsung LN-T5281F 52" LCD TV. This Blu-ray player is well equipped for future advances in audio and the video processing and quality is first-rate. Load and access times are okay but not spectacular. This Blu-ray player is head and shoulders above anything else in it's class. Highly recommended!

I have a good one

Strengths: Easy set up, outstanding video quality on blu ray and standard dvd's.

Weakness: a litle slow, but you that hear about all brands.

My unit is connected to pioneer 92txh and a samsung 58A650 and it has performed great. I'm using the sound from the receiver, but the 1500 is doing what it should do and produce a quality picture. So far it has upheld its' end of the bargin. I highly recommend the purchase of the samsung.

Not Worth The Hassle

Strengths: Video looks good. Can find for under $200. Bitstream (Audiophile) is nice.

Weakness: This unit Does Not decode DTS HD Master.

I had to take back two of these units (within a 30 day span) because they simply stopped playing Blu-Ray discs. I can understand 1 bad unit, but two with in 30 days. I returned the last unit and Bought the Panasonic BD35K. This unit is ALOT better.

This machine sucks!!! Even after updating the firmware using a USB drive it has big problems playing any DVD - avoid this machine, the cheap price isn't worth it.

Good value for Blu-ray beginners

Strengths: Beautiful picture, quality audio, and a great price point.

Weakness: Seems somewhat flimsy. I had to take the first one I bought back after only 1 week. Loooooong loading times.

I bought this because it had the features I wanted (BD Live, for instance) and it had a great price but I was somewhat dissappointed when I had to take the first one I bought back after only a week when it quit playing a picture(but I still had audio

BDP1500 is fantastic

Strengths: Low profile, easy out of the box, amazing quality

Weakness: Instructions on BD Live Setup, No wireless ethernet

This unit is an amazing value for the money. DVD never looked so good, and I'll never to to the theater again. I have this hooked to my 52" Samsung 1080P and its amazingly eye-popping. Better than I e

Worth every penny. Very pleased.

Strengths: It is so easy to hook up and use. Very easy directions. Looks nice.

Weakness: Have not found any. Hard and I mean very hard to find.

Plays music from my CD. Picture from my DVD'S look great. I am very happy. I had the 1400 Samsung DVD Blu Ray and I am glad I took it back before I opened it. This is so new it is very hard to find. Circuit City had it only on line.

Samsung BDP-1500

Strengths: Full 1080P high def resolution. Low price for a powerfull bd-player

Weakness: a little slow in loading time. It will also heat up my blue rays when i take them out of the bd tray.

I would recommend this to any home entertaiment enthusiast. This is a must for any HDTV owner. I have this baby hooked up to my 7.1 SONY home theatre system, and it surpassed beyond my expectations. Samsung is a robust leading brand in consumer electronics period.

Worked great for 2 hours

Strengths: Great picture, worked well right out of box.

Weakness: Died after 2 hours. Samsung customer service did not respond to my email.

This seem to be a great unit. I was very impressed as long as it worked. It died after two hours. Now I am shipping it back to Buydig.com for refund but reading their return policy, apparently they would charge me 10-20% restocking fee.
