Resident Evil Zero

Strengths: Another must-have game for the Gamecube, same graphics as in Resident Evil, two characters makes it more enjoyable with different strengths and weaknesses, changed inventory control system

Weakness: Oddball camera issues (though better than RE), same odd Resident Evil controls, only available for the Gamecube

Seeing some of the prequel story with RE:0 helps out understand some of the story you see in RE, and for that, it's well-worth the purchase. Another "must-have" for the Gamecube, with great atmosphere and sound and voice acting. Having two characters adds a new angle to RE:0 not present in the previous games, and also the camera issues have been fixed a bit, though not quite completely fixed. Great action and great story keep you interested all the way through the game. Definately pick this up if you have the Gamecube.

Resident Evil Zero

Strengths: New storyline reveals some of mysteries in the Resident Evil series. Graphics and sounds are excellent to create edge-of-the-seat excitement of the survivor horror experience.

Weakness: Fixed camera angles, control scheme is out-dated, and the zombie storyline is getting a little long in the tooth.

Gameplay : 3 out of 5
Graphics : 5 out of 5
Sound : 5 out of 5

While some people say that zombie storylines never get old, it is starting to become clear that Resident Evil Zero is driving up the ramp on the way to jump the shark. Sure, RE-0 has all the RE elements that people love, but the twist of having two members required to solve puzzles and battle zombies did not bring anything grandly new to the series. So, if you enjoy survival horror games, RE-0 is a good game in the RE series. However, you should not start with it; start with the remake of Resident Evil.

Resident Evil Zero

Strengths: The graphics are great, ultra realistic looking. Spooky environments and music will put you on edge. New enemies.

Weakness: If you've played all the other games this one is pretty predictable in places. The partner zapping system is irritating to use. Some of the new enemies can kick your butt quite quickly.

This game is a great buy especially if your a Resident Evil fan! You can now drop items anywhere you want, instead of using those item boxes. However this is can be a good or bad thing at times. You'll be dropping a lot of items too, becasue you dont have too much inventory space, and there are lots of items to collect. if your close enough to your partner character (in the same room) you can exchange items between eachother. They could have made the partner zapping feature a little better, but it is definatelly a neat idea. The camera angles dont seem as bad as some of the previous games, although it does have it's share of spots where you cant see where enemies are at. Although I think this adds to the "impending doom" feeling in some places, so the bad camera angles arent all bad. (if you like to be scared anyways) and in most bigger rooms, the camera now scrolls to follow the characters rather then switching to new angles every few feet. Some complain about the bad controls in all the Resident Evil games, but so far, I've found the Gamecube's controller setup to be perfect for this game, and all the other Resident Evil resurections on the Gamecube (all have the same controller layout)

Overall this is a great game. If you love the Resident Evil series it is a must buy!

Capcom Resident Evil Zero GameCube

Strengths: Graphics, mood, story

Weakness: Controls are poor

Capcom Resident Evil Zero GameCube was probably the best game in series prior to the release of Resident Evil 4. The game fills in the story prior to Resident Evil 1 and does a fantastic job of combining FMV clips and storyline with challenging puzzles and action. For fans of the survival/horor genre as well as Resident Evil games this is a must buy.

Resident Evil Zero

Strengths: Stunning visuals. New two-character control. Plot occurs prior to other RE games.

Weakness: Same old RE formula. Character switching allows quick load of new rooms, but entering rooms still plays lengthy door animation. Controls are as clunky as ever.

In the realm of pre-RE4 Resident Evil games, this is a good one. The game mechanics are highly evolved, yet still retain the weaknesses that have bothered would-be fans for years. The controls are still first-person (up is always forward, not matter what the camera angle is). This is a bothersome necessity of having instant camera switches. Still, the game is an artistic masterpiece and can be a real blast to play. Resident Evil 4 is probably a more universally acceptable game, though. It is more action-centric and really modernizes the series' controls and camera. Even so, RE0 is much cheaper. If you want a good survival horror experience, buy this game.

Resident Evil Zero

Strengths: very good story

Weakness: clunky controls

This game is the prequel to the Resident evil series. the game has the classic tank like controls but also has the great atmosphere which makes this series great. The game has a very good story, good voice acting, great voice acting and more. The game is well worth it if you are a RE fan but if not a rental would suffice.

Resident Evil Zero

Strengths: The coolest action game so far!

Weakness: Not for kids

Definately need to own your copy! There are 2 discs in this game. You would know how good the quality of graphics/sound is right at the beginning. Might be a little be difficult for beginners because you have 2 characters to control now! But you can choose from easy, middle, or hard levels and still have fun! The only concern is that some scenes might be a little bit scary for kids. Lock them somewhere when you paly it.

Zero doesn't add much to the RE series mythology. . .

Strengths: Stellar graphics, new partner swapping and item dropping mechanics, prequel to REmake, the last RE with zombies, Leech Hunters mini-game, budget price

Weakness: Same old controls, weak storyline, unimaginative enemies (frogs, monkeys, bugs, etc.), contains major spoilers for REmake, short overall length

Resident Evil Zero was the last game in the popular Capcom series to feature the now classic RE controls and game play dating back to the original PSone Resident Evil. Unfortunately, this wasn't the grand sendoff that most fans had hoped for.

The Gamecube-powered graphics certainly do the series proud, and the new partner swapping and drop-anytime item mechanics certainly add new twists to the venerable series. Unfortunately, Zero's storyline and enemies don't meet (much less exceed) the standards of the original game.

Fans hoping for more insight into the series with the prequel won't be satisfied (as nothing really new or exciting is revealed here), but players new to the series will be rewarded with plenty of spoilers if they haven't already played the original (and much better) REmake.

Series fans should definitely pick this game up, especially now that it can be found for less than $20, but players wary of the old control scheme and puzzle-oriented game play should steer clear entirely. The newer RE4 offers much more action and replay value for the same money.

Resident Evil Zero

Strengths: Excellent graphics, voice acting and story

Weakness: Poor controls

I've never played a Resident Evil game (although I did see the movies and found them enjoyable) and this one pretty accurately models everything I've heard about the games. Excellent story, voice acting and graphics, and controls like trying to maneuver a drunken rat through a spinning maze.

The parter system is interesting, but the tag-team puzzle solving (while inventive and interesting at first) quickly becomes boring and repetitive.

Overall I recommend this game to people who like Resident Evil games, people who like survival horror games, and people who are willing to invest the time to beat a game that is very difficult (but very rewarding).

2 can play at this game

Strengths: unique character switching idea...

Weakness: ...that doesn't work as well as it should

This game tried to do something different with the series. While many of the RE games feature 2 playable characters, this is the first to let you play them at the same time, switching back and forth, or even controlling both in the same room at once. Problem is, this can become somewhat of a nuisance at times, as when you are controlling one character, the other is standing around in real time, possible getting attacked. While some of the puzzles do benefit from the character swapping, in the end I found it more of a hinderence. Other than that, though, same 'ol RE.

Resident Evil Zero

Strengths: 2 Characters to switch between during play. Use both to solve puzzles. Pass items to each other when close. Drop items anywhere for later pick-up when needed. Camera pans in most rooms.

Weakness: Still have tank controls, camera angles, and the typewriter + ribbon save combo.

All the elements of the RE series are here: tension, suspense, and creepy atmosphere.
Some nuggets are: Cool environments like the train and interesting FMV backstory for Billy.
I liked the addition of puzzle solving between the two characters and the map showing where
items were dropped off. If not for that it would have been a scavenger hunt for dropped items (not fun).
A must for any RE fan and a play for any GameCube owner.

Resident Evil Zero

Strengths: Unbelievable graphics, cinematic, tense gameplay, moody music, unique partner system

Weakness: Short, not high on replay value, has same gameplay shortcomings as other RE games

Resident Evil 0 starts out great, beginning aboard a zombie-infested runaway train, but then fizzles out a bit after that. Make no mistake, though: The game is a must-play if you're a RE fan, but it contains the same nagging flaws that have plagued other RE games. Still, RE0 does have a pretty cool partner feature, which makes for some interesting puzzles but also doubles the workload. And, of course, it wouldn't be a Resident Evil game without amazing graphics and plenty of scares.

Resident Evil Zero

Strengths: RE series remains the top dog of survival-horror

Weakness: Resident Evil 4 raised the bar too high

Resident Evil is formulaic, and controls would never be confused as being fluid- and yet the games continue to impress. Like the best horror movies, RE knows how to build suspense, capture intense atmosphere and keep the viewer involved. Zero is no slouch in the series in this department. In fact, I would say that RE0 reaches the zenith of what is achievable with this presentation and format. Capcom, realizing this, changed the play mechanics for RE4. Which leaves Zero as a final hurrah for RE as most people knew it. It is graphically even better than RE1 remake, includes a second playable character and finally allows dropping of items- making it better than any of the previous ones on these terms. And yet because of the looming presence of RE4 (or maybe people finally wanted something new) RE0 has largely been overlooked. It is a great game, and worthy of the series. If you have only played RE4, then the other games, including this one, may feel too unwieldy, but if you are a fan, even a casual one, Zero deserves a buy, especially as it can easily be gotten for under $20.

Resident Evil Zero

Strengths: Excellent tension and suspense built with the story; great graphics and atmosphere; character interaction adds to experience

Weakness: Same problem as with most Resident Evil games - weak control scheme

This is one of the games I would consider to be justification for owning a Gamecube if you enjoy mature games. The game quality is similar to Resident Evil 1:REmake for the Gamecube, meaning that the graphics and sound are excellent. This is a brand new story in the RE saga, unlike REmake which was an updated version of the older PS1 game. The controls are poorly done as usual, but if you have experience with the RE series then you will know that coming in. My only recommendation is to play REmake first, as RE Zero will spoil some of the surprises in REmake.

Resident Evil Zero

Strengths: Can drop items in any room, graphics, switch between 2 characters

Weakness: No item box to store your excess items in (this may not be a bad thing to everyone but I have always liked it & missed it since it wasen't in zero and I always liked stock piling a ton of items)

Resident Evil 0 is a new Resident Evil game in the series which is a prequel to the original game. You play as S.T.A.R.S. agent Rebecca Chambers (who alot of Resident Evil fans will remember from the 1st Resident Evil) and Billy Coen an escaped convict convicted of murder. Resident Evil plays just like any other Resident Evil game that came before it with your tank style controls and everything else controlling the same as previous Resident Evil games. Resident Evil 0 does also offer up some new play mechanics to the series though as well. You will play though the game as both Rebecca and Billy as you can switch between them and will have to use both of them in order to solve puzzles which will add some depth to the puzzles aspect of the game. Another new thing about how the game plays is that you don't have an item box in Resident Evil 0 like in previous Resident Evil games instead you can drop items in certain spots in rooms & will have to decide if you want to drop something you have in your inventory if you don't have any inventory room but want to pick something up. You will be able to come back for any dropped items later if it's something that will be useful later but you didn't have room for it and had to drop it. I would suggest Resident Evil 0 to Resident Evil fans but if your not a big Resident Evil fan I would suggest renting it first as while Resident Evil 0 is a great game with top notch graphics it may feel outdated to some being as it is very much like all the Resident Evils that came before it since 1996.

Resident Evil Zero

Strengths: Graphics, scary gameplay

Weakness: Kinda short

Resident Evil 0 is the prequel to the first game. The graphics, like the first RE remake, are fantastic and they are simply packed with detail. The sound is good thanks to a musical score that brings parts of the game to life. The gameplay is standard Resident Evil, so if you've played other entries, you know what you're getting here. The gameplay is a little more refined this time thanks to the new partner system which has you switching between two characters while playing. RE fans will definitely like this game.

Gamers should be scared to enter retail outlets across America this holiday season, and not just because of the requisite crowd of unwashed Yu-Gi-Oh! jumpsuit-wearing rejects stationed at every counter! Resident Evil Zero

Capcom's survival horror series has come a long way over the years. Technically speaking, that is. Take a look at the original Resident Evil and compare it to the remake on GameCube, for instance. The difference, from a visual standpoint, is jaw dropping. The GCN update is simply gorgeous. And yet, as far as play mechanics are concerned, not all that much has changed.
